Bartosz Jakubowski’s · VC at Alven · Coaching Story

Bartosz Jakubowski is a venture capitalist at Alven, a heart-led venture capital for global game changers.

Seeing changes and progress one week after the other during sessions was a real aha moment. This written trail of progress actually helps keep track of where you were, how you're feeling about it, and how this evolved since the last session. I believe this isn't necessarily something that's as easy with an in-person coaching session

Can you share key highlights of your coaching experience with Wave (overcame challenges, aha moments...)?

My job as a VC is full of context-switching and diverse topics, people and targets to interact with and manage. I was struggling with prioritization, and was sometimes feeling overwhelmed with never-ending mental to-do lists and blind spots. Although it could seem as one more thing to do each week, my session with Wave actually felt like a breathing exercise in the midst of my busy schedule.

One of the key highlights of my coaching with Wave was being forced to ask myself questions on what to prioritize over what and why. Writing format actually helped me get to the bottom of it, because it forced me to get to the root cause of issues in order to make my writing coherent.

Seeing changes and progress one week after the other during sessions was a real aha moment. While the questions remained similar, my answers were changing and building on top of last week's answers. This written trail of progress actually helps keeping track of where you were, how you're feeling about it, and how this evolved since last time. I believe this isn't necessarily something that's as easy with an in-person coaching session.

What would you say that Wave brought you?

Short term, Wave has brought me the realization of why doing too many things was actually a limiting factor on personal productivity, especially in a job where thinking and decision-making are paramount.

On the long run, I would say Wave has brought me discipline in taking time, each week, to review what I have accomplished and how I spent my time and energy, in order to get into this feedback loop and improve the following week

Who do you think should start being coached by Wave?

I believe everyone feeling overwhelmed with tasks and projects to follow-up on, as well as everyone feeling trapped in the flow of everyday things with limited bandwidth to focus on longer-term, strategic topics, should give Wave a try. It's a beautifully designed guided coaching experience which helps you take a breath during the week and see things with a helicopter view.
